Job summary

Socket.dev seeks an intermediate-to-senior Network Designer, Facilities & Power to design standardized telecom facilities and power infrastructure. You will develop construction-ready design packages, equipment layouts, DC power, battery systems, standby generation, grounding, and environmental support.

You will lead projects through the full lifecycle, create BOMs and cost estimates, and support procurement and capital planning. Collaboration with dispersed teams and field staff is required.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electronics Engineering Technology, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in telecommunications infrastructure design.
• Strong understanding of telecommunications facility power systems, including -48 VDC power distribution, battery systems, standby power generation, and AC electrical distribution.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD for engineering drawings and Microsoft Excel for documentation, material tracking, and project support.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain standardized design templates for telecommunications facilities, including cabinets, remote huts, POPs, and central office expansions.
• Create and manage pre-engineered layouts, power architectures, battery configurations, and material standards.
• Define and enforce drawing, labeling, naming, and documentation standards; support efficient operations and knowledge transfer.
• Develop bills of materials (BOMs) and cost estimates; support procurement, capital planning, and network expansion initiatives.
• Provide technical leadership in facilities and power design within a distributed team environment.
