Job summary

Babcock Canada is seeking a Senior Naval Architect (Permanent) in Victoria, BC. You will provide professional engineering direction within the waterfront Naval Architecture team for submarine hull repairs and structural analysis, ensuring safety and reliability of critical assets.

The role requires a Canadian engineering degree, P.Eng. or eligibility, 8+ years of marine experience, and ability to lead a small engineering team while coordinating with Seaspan and the Department of National Defence.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree in naval architecture or related field.
• P.Eng. or eligibility in BC.
• 8+ years in structural or marine engineering.
• Experience with submarine hull structures.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional direction for naval architecture team on submarine hull repairs.
• Review surveys and provide repair specifications and engineering reports.
• Develop repair packages and contract documentation for submarine maintenance.
• Mentor 2–3 junior engineers or technicians.
• Interface with Seaspan, DoN design authorities, and internal stakeholders.
• Support build-up and testing of submarine hull and structural systems.
• Lead hazard identifications and risk assessments for submarine systems.
• Other duties as required.
