Job summary

Global Technical Talent is seeking a skilled MS SQL Database Administrator - Expert for a 6-month contract in Toronto, hybrid arrangement with in-office Tuesdays. The role emphasizes Oracle and SQL Server DB support across capital markets and retail banking lines.

Expect 37.5 hours weekly, occasional overtime, 9:00–5:00 schedule, and on-call rotations. You will collaborate with a 20-person DBA team and external vendors.

Qualifications

5–7 years of Azure MSSQL experience.
2 years PostgreSQL experience.
DB installation, configuration, and tuning.
Cloud migration experience.
Strong problem-solving and communication.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team.

Responsibilities

Taking ownership of and leading production incidents resolutions.
Communicating complex technical issues to stakeholders and partners.
Cooperating with change control and security policies.
Analyzing recurring incidents and driving improvements.
Providing on-call rotational support as needed.
Participating in BAU operational activities and DR exercises.
Install, configure, and maintain Oracle and SQL Server databases.
Optimize database performance through indexing and query tuning.
