Job summary

CloudVital in Montreal, QC, is seeking a SQL Database Administrator to join our hybrid team. The role combines on-site and remote work with a focus on core SQL DBA tasks, maintenance, and migrations.

Expect to ensure performance, security, and availability across SQL Server environments. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of SQL Server DBA experience, hands-on backups/restores, PTO, and HA/DR expertise, plus PowerShell and Azure familiarity.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of experience as a SQL Server DBA.
• Experience with SQL Server Administration is required.
• Experience with Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO).
• Hands-on experience with backups, restores and recovery models.
• Experience with High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server.

Responsibilities

• Perform Core SQL DBA tasks.
• Configure and maintain database servers and processes.
• Handle Database upgrades and migrations.
• Capacity planning for databases.
• Working in Operations and handling Database alerts.
• Install, patch SQL 2016 through 2019.
• Performance tuning of Queries/applications.
• Monitor system's health and performance.
• Ensure high levels of performance, availability, sustainability and security.
• Analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time.
• Provide suggestions for solutions.
• Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes.
• Assist developers with query tuning and schema refinement.
• Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hours.
