Job summary

The Government of Nova Scotia Labour, Skills and Immigration department seeks a Mining Engineer to lead engineering assessments and support mining safety regulation across the province. You will inspect mines, review blasting and mining regulations, prepare technical reports, and interact with stakeholders.

A Bachelor's in mining engineering and six years' experience are required; registration with Engineers Nova Scotia or eligibility to register is mandatory.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Engineering in mining/mineral resources engineering.
• At least six years of related experience.
• Underground mining experience for 75% of the time.
• Full member with Engineers Nova Scotia, or eligible to register.

Responsibilities

• Conduct inspections of surface and underground mines; write inspection reports.
• Review filings, deviations, and codes of practice related to blasting and mining safety.
• Travel across Nova Scotia to conduct inspections and promote compliance with the OHS Act.
