Job summary

St Barbara Limited seeks an Environmental Specialist for our Touquoy mine site in Nova Scotia, about 1 hour northeast of Halifax. This permanent, full‑time role reports to the Environmental Supervisor and involves regulatory compliance, data collection, and supporting sampling programs.

The ideal candidate has an environmental degree, a valid driver’s license, and strong MS Office skills, with the ability to work in a field‑based, team environment near the mine.

Qualifications

• A degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, or related discipline.
• A current, valid Driver's License and reliable transportation to Touquoy site.
• Physically fit and able to lift up to 25 kg as required.

Responsibilities

• Participate in environmental projects with scope definition, resourcing, contractor oversight, and data reporting.
• Conduct site inspections and investigate environmental incidents.
• Compile and analyze environmental data for regulatory needs.
• Assist with annual regulatory reporting to meet federal and provincial requirements.
• Review IA requirements and audit compliance for the mine.
• Provide technical assistance to operations on regulatory activities.
• Conduct internal compliance audits and develop corrective action plans.
• Support sampling programs for surface water, groundwater, and soil.
