Job summary

WSP in Canada seeks a Senior Metallurgist to lead process development and mineral processing projects from Montreal, Laval, Brossard, Quebec City, or Lévis.

You will identify client needs, define design criteria, develop mass balances, P&IDs, and evaluate capital and operating costs. The role demands 15+ years in metallurgical processes and a professional engineering license, with bilingual English/French required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent.
• 15+ years of relevant experience in metallurgical processes.
• Membership in a recognized professional engineering association, in good standing.
• Experience in consulting engineering is an asset.
• Strong initiative, attention to detail, and a rigorous work approach.
• Ability to work collaboratively and share expertise across teams.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Bilingualism is required (English/French).

Responsibilities

• Identify client needs and contribute to proposals.
• Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders to define project needs and present technical information, concepts, and study outcomes.
• Establish design criteria, develop mass balances, define P&IDs, size and select process equipment.
• Develop laboratory test programs, oversee their execution, and analyze data.
• Prepare capital and operating cost estimates.
• Review and produce tender packages, technical specifications, and related engineering documents.
• Act as a Qualified Person (QP) for technical reports.
• Provide supervision to technicians, drafters, and project metallurgists.
• Assist project managers and team leads as required.
• Carry out other tasks to support market growth and project delivery.
