Job summary

Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a Senior Medical Device Reprocessing Technician to join the Squamish Hospital team in Squamish, BC. You will work within an integrated team to ensure timely decontamination, inspection, sterilization, assembly and distribution of operating room instruments and linen.

The role emphasizes infection control, training and supervision of technicians, and contributing to a high-volume reprocessing workflow.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 and recognition in a Medical Device Reprocessing course.
• Two years of related experience or equivalent mix of education and training.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminating, inspecting, assembling, wrapping and sterilizing instruments and linen.
• Distributing equipment to operating rooms and other areas as required.
• Provide work direction to Technicians and support workflow in a high-volume environment.

Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Senior Medical Device Reprocessing Technician to join the team at Squamish Hospital in Squamish, BC.

As a Senior Medical Device Reprocessing Technician You Will

• Work as a member of an integrated team and assists in ensuring that the overall equipment/supply requirements within a fast paced, a high volume medical device reprocessing environment are met.
• Maintain efficient workflow and provide work direction to Technicians as required as well as decontaminating, inspecting, assembling, wrapping, sterilizing and distributing simple and complex instruments, equipment and linen related to the operating rooms and other areas of the hospital.

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.

As per Ministry of Health policy, all health care workers working in publicly-funded health care facilities are required to report their past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections. Collecting these records will allow for offering of any missing vaccines, and for appropriate actions to be taken in the event of any future exposure to a communicable disease or during outbreaks. For all new hires and appointments to Vancouver Coastal Health, you will be asked to provide this information as part of the onboarding process.
