Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a Medical Device Reprocessing Technician (MDRT) for Lions Gate Hospital in North Vancouver, BC. The role involves decontaminating, inspecting, assembling and sterilizing hospital instruments and equipment, with responsibilities spanning packaging, wrapping, and distribution to patient care areas.

Qualified candidates will have a Grade 12 and a recognized Medical Device Reprocessing course, plus at least one year of related experience.

Job description

Come work as a Medical Device Reprocessing Technician (MDRT) at Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) at Lions Gate Hospital in North Vancouver, BC!

Within the context of a client service culture, and in accordance with the established vision and values of the organization, under general supervision, the Medical Device Reprocessing Technician performs duties related to the decontaminating, inspecting, testing, assembling, packaging, wrapping, sterilizing and distribution of hospital products to be re-processed, including simple and complex instruments, linen and equipment utilized for patient care in the operating rooms and other areas of the Hospital. Performs designated cleaning duties, restocks operating and labour delivery operating rooms shelves, cupboards and carts according to established written procedures. Provides input regarding observations and interactions with patients to the unit based team. Performs related clerical duties.

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.

As per Ministry of Health policy, all health care workers working in publicly-funded health care facilities are required to report their past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections. Collecting these records will allow for offering of any missing vaccines, and for appropriate actions to be taken in the event of any future exposure to a communicable disease or during outbreaks. For all new hires and appointments to Vancouver Coastal Health, you will be asked to provide this information as part of the onboarding process.
