Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in industrial or large-scale construction projects.
  • Mechanical Engineering Degree, diploma in Engineering Technology, or Journeyperson Certification.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and MS Office.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and internal teams to support mechanical project execution.
  • Coordinate and respond to technical inquiries related to mechanical systems while communicating between field crews, engineers, and project managers.
  • Conduct regular site visits to monitor installation progress and resolve coordination conflicts to keep projects on track.
  • Support field operations by ensuring materials, equipment, tools and skilled trades personnel are available on site per the schedule and budget.
  • Prepare and process purchase requisitions for mechanical materials and equipment and track deliveries with suppliers.
  • Assist in preparing mechanical material take-offs, cost estimates, budgets, and project schedules.
  • Review and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications and submittals to ensure scope clarity.

Cahill Industrial Limited is recruiting a highly qualified and dynamic Sr. Mechanical/Piping Coordinator to join our multidisciplinary team in Calgary, Alberta. As a Sr. Mechanical/Piping Coordinator, you will play a paramount role in supporting project delivery by providing hands-on coordination in the field and maintaining strong working relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams. You will be responsible for assisting with materials management, procurement, scheduling, estimating, and scope review to ensure work is executed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with project requirements. As a Sr. Mechanical/Piping Coordinator, you will proactively identify and resolve issues at the job site and help maintain project momentum and performance. Strong communication skills are key in this role, with the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced construction environment. This position will be based on-site on a Monday to Friday schedule.

What will you do?
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and internal project teams by responding to inquiries promptly and coordinating information effectively to support mechanical project execution.
  • Coordinate and respond to technical inquiries related to mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, piping, and equipment installation) while maintaining clear communication between field crews, engineers, and project managers.
  • Conduct regular site visits to monitor mechanical installation progress, proactively identify potential issues, and assist in resolving coordination conflicts to keep the project on track.
  • Support field operations by ensuring required mechanical materials, equipment, tools, and skilled trades personnel are available on site in accordance with the project schedule and budget.
  • Prepare and process purchase requisitions for mechanical materials and equipment, track deliveries, and follow up with suppliers to ensure timely procurement and cost control.
  • Assist in preparing mechanical material take-offs, cost estimates, budgets, and project schedules, ensuring alignment with drawings, specifications, and project scope.
  • Review and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, submittals, and design documents to ensure scope clarity and compliance with project requirements.
What will you bring?
  • 5+ years of experience in industrial or large-scale construction projects.
  • Mechanical Engineering Degree, diploma in Engineering Technology, or Journeyperson Trade Certification. A combination of equivalent experience will also be considered.
  • Strong technical proficiency in computer systems, with advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Microsoft Excel (data analysis, formulas, pivot tables, and reporting).
  • Strong organizational skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to communicate effectively with management, tradespersons, clients and suppliers.
