Mercer Celgar in Castlegar, BC seeks a Maintenance Engineer, Mechanical to join the Engineering team to analyze equipment criticality, plan and execute maintenance strategies, and support CAPEX projects.

The role requires a Mechanical Engineering degree, P.Eng status, and several years of maintenance experience. Familiarity with NBIC/API/ASME standards is preferred, with a focus on safety and reliability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
  • P.Eng. registration with a Canadian engineering association is required.
  • Several years of maintenance experience with best practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to coordinate activities across departments.
  • Familiarity with NBIC, API, and ASME codes and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and update equipment criticality using established processes.
  • Audit and develop maintenance strategies for optimal reliability.
  • Plan, manage and execute asset inspections and high-value maintenance projects.
  • Plan, manage and execute maintenance of CAPEX projects.
  • Support production, maintenance and project teams as equipment SME.
  • Investigate equipment failures and recommend solutions.
  • Provide input to long-term and annual business plans.
