Job summary

EllisDon is hiring a Mechanical Estimator to join our Mississauga team. In this role you will contribute to pre-construction activities, develop estimates for hard-bid, design-build and GMP projects, and collaborate with architects, engineers and subcontractors to define scope and budgets.

The ideal candidate has intermediate to senior estimating experience in mechanical contracting, strong technical acumen, and excellent communication skills to support bidding, buyouts and risk assessment

Qualifications

• Intermediate/senior estimating experience in mechanical contracting or related field.
• Working knowledge of estimating strategies and techniques for bids.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, scope narratives and contracts.
• Excellent communication and client-facing abilities are essential.

Responsibilities

• Prepare pre-construction estimates and budgets for bids (hard-bid, design-build, GMP).
• Assist in the bid process while coordinating with sub-trades and manufacturers.
• Assemble accurate, timely estimates including labor, material and equipment costs.
• Coordinate scope with Architect/Civil/Structural/Electrical estimators.
• Organise sub-contractor budgets and buyout support during design and execution phases.
• Review sub-trade budgets/quotes and manage budget risk with leadership.
• Maintain estimating databases with labour rates and project costs.
• Review drawings and tender documents to define the scope of work.
• Attend client/budget and bid review meetings and develop relationships with clients and subcontractors.
