Job summary

Green Infrastructure Partners is seeking a Senior Mechanical Estimator to own the estimating process from bid to submission. You will lead end-to-end estimates for mechanical infrastructure projects and collaborate with engineering, operations, and procurement to deliver competitive proposals.

The role is office-based with occasional site visits. You’ll mentor junior estimators, develop estimates including labour, materials, equipment and subcontractor pricing, and help shape bid strategy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology or equivalent.
• Minimum 5+ years of estimating construction projects with leadership in bids.
• Proficiency with Excel, estimating software, and take-off tools; Accubid/Bluebeam is a plus.

What You’ll Do:

As a Senior Mechanical Estimator, you’ll be responsible for owning the estimating process from initial bid through to final submission. You’ll manage complex estimates independently, coordinate cross-functional inputs, and play a lead role in winning work for our business. You will be expected to work closely and collaboratively with the entire estimating and operating teams to effectively develop the best-in-class proposals. This role supports bid strategy development, mentorship, and close collaboration with operations and project management teams.

This is an office-based role with occasional site visits as required.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Lead end-to-end estimating efforts on mechanical infrastructure projects.
• Provide mentorship and oversight to junior estimators, reviewing their work and supporting their growth.
• Develop accurate, detailed, and competitive estimates that include labour, materials, equipment, and subcontractor pricing.
• Interpret tender documents, design drawings, and technical specifications to define project scope and cost implications.
• Preparation of quantity take-offs, material costing sheets, and final estimate documentation in estimating software (Accubid or similar).
• Identify risks and opportunities in project scopes and propose strategic pricing approaches.
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders (engineering, operations, procurement) and external subcontractors to ensure accurate and timely inputs.
• Ensure all estimates are aligned with project goals, client requirements, and company standards.
• Attend site visits as needed and lead estimate reviews prior to submission.
• Contribute to the development of estimating tools, templates, and best practices to improve accuracy and efficiency across the department.

What We're Looking For:

We’re excited to meet candidates who have:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum 5+ years of experience in estimating construction projects, including leadership in developing large-scale bids.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, estimating software, and digital take-off tools; experience with Accubid, Bluebeam, or similar systems is an asset.
• Demonstrated ability to independently manage high-value, multidisciplinary estimates under tight deadlines.
• Solid understanding of construction contracts, risk evaluation, and cost modeling.
• Strong leadership, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
• High attention to detail and strong analytical thinking.
• Ability to thrive in both independent and team-driven environments.
