Job summary

Kiewit is seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer to provide technical leadership in hydropower, dam, and hydraulic structure projects across North America. Based out of Oakville, ON or Burnaby, BC, you will mentor engineers and guide the design of mechanical balance-of-plant systems, HVAC, and piping while collaborating with construction partners.

You will lead hydraulic calculations, heat balancing, pipe stress analyses, and equipment sizing, ensuring constructible designs aligned with project

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 10+ years of relevant engineering experience (15+ preferred).
• Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in Canada.
• Strong experience with mechanical system design, piping, hydraulics, and hydromechanical systems.
• Willingness to travel periodically to project offices and job sites.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a senior mechanical technical resource on hydropower and dam projects.
• Lead and support design of BOP mechanical systems, HVAC, drainage, interfaces with generating unit mechanical systems.
• Support procurement packages and commissioning planning.
• Mentor and develop junior engineers and foster team collaboration.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary design efforts and ensure integration across disciplines.
