Job summary

Kiewit Energy Canada District in Burnaby, BC, is seeking a Senior Mechanical Designer to join its HDH team and deliver complex hydropower and dam projects across North America. You will design balance‑of‑plant mechanical systems, coordinate with structural, electrical and hydrotechnical teams, mentor juniors, and contribute to constructability and safety in design.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of relevant experience in the design of balance‑of‑plant mechanical systems with Hydropower experience considered an asset.
• Experience in piping layouts, HVAC, drainage and cooling water systems including pumps and instruments.
• Proficiency with codes and standards: ASME, ISO, ASTM, and ASHRAE.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit for drawing preparation.
• Registered technologist or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation of mechanical design deliverables, including drawings, lists and schedules in coordination with mechanical engineers.
• Support HDH mechanical design packages and coordinate with internal teams.
• Collaborate with structural, electrical, and hydrotechnical teams to develop HDH projects.
• Mentor and support the development of junior and intermediate designers through technical guidance.
• Foster a collaborative, safe, quality‑focused design environment.
