This is a great opportunity to join a dynamic team in a company with an excellent reputation in the engineering consulting industry. At HH Angus, we value our employees and strive to create a culture of learning, growth, and success.

We are currently looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our growing company.

The Senior Mechanical Engineer reports directly to the Senior Manager with extensive experience in our Healthcare Division and works with several team members who have a strong base of knowledge and industry experience.

HH Angus has been collaborating with building owners, architects, and contractors for many years to deliver projects in Vancouver and across the province. Completed projects include Royal Inland Hospital Phil & Jennie Gaglardi Patient Care Tower, Lions Gate Hospital power plant replacement, Penticton Regional Hospital David Kampe Tower Phase I, commissioning of the TELUS Kamloops Data Centre, Royal Jubilee Hospital Patient Care Centre, and Fort St. John Hospital and Peace Villa. Current major projects include the decarbonization of Creative Energy’s downtown Vancouver district energy steam plant, compliance engineering for Royal Columbian Hospital Phases 2 and 3, the new Burrard Exchange office tower at Bental Centre, and ongoing mission-critical facilities work for Telus.

Our Vancouver office is located in Bentall Centre – in the heart of Vancouver’s vibrant downtown – with close proximity to public transit, restaurants, shopping, and other amenities. We have an established team in this office with great chemistry, a friendly and welcoming environment, strong communication within the office and across the organization with excellent benefits and career development supports.

HH Angus has a long history in the healthcare industry, but even more than that, we have a reputation for satisfying clients who require solutions to complex projects. Our Healthcare Division works on a variety of healthcare facility projects, including public-private partnership (PPP or P3), acute care, long-term care, mental health, and rehabilitation hospitals. In this role, you will apply your technical engineering and project management skills to add value to our clients and individuals who rely on healthcare facilities for their well-being. You will have the opportunity to be involved with complex healthcare projects in BC as well as across Canada. For example, HH Angus is the lead engineering firm for the Cowichan District Hospital Redevelopment, which is aiming to be the first all-electric hospital in BC and the first CaGBC Net Zero hospital in Canada.

At HH Angus, we will support your career development to help you achieve your professional goals. Come Grow With Us.

Responsibilities include:

  • Recognized technical subject matter expert within the organization
  • Responsible for the technical design for complex projects, often involving multiple drawings, technical complexity, high project value, and multiple trades
  • Assesses design constructability and develops design specifications for complex designs
  • Participates in project planning and project management meetings and provides improvement recommendations to ensure project deliverables and timelines are met
  • Regularly peer reviews work of more junior engineers
  • Reviews and signs off on complex engineering reports and standards
  • Completes project work on time and within budget
  • Leads teams in the technical design of complex projects
  • Accountable for all designs through to construction completion
  • Ensures technical accuracy of all project files and documentation
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications:

  • University Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • P.Eng with EGBC
  • 10+ years engineering consulting experience
  • Forward-thinking, eager to learn best practices, and contribute with innovative ideas.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit
  • Attention to detail and good documentation skills.
  • Ability to collaborate and work effectively in a variety of teams, including multi-disciplinary teams.

The expected salary for this role is between $100,000 to $140,000 annually. Base salaries are determined considering several factors such as skills and competencies, experience, education, and internal and external competitiveness.
