Are you an experienced Mechanical engineer looking to run projects, lead a team of professionals in multi-disciplinary projects? Shield Engineering and Architecture Ltd. is looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their team and expand our consulting services. More specifically, we are interested in progressing our offerings for mechanical building services and fire protection systems.

The ideal candidate for this position will be a well organized, detail oriented and self-motivated person, working as part of an integrated team providing engineering services to our diverse client base.

In this position, you will:

• Provide project management, design, and construction support services.
• Develop and review mechanical requirements including scope, costing, and scheduling for projects.
• Perform and review detailed mechanical engineering tasks including calculations, specifications, drawings, datasheets, layouts, etc...) from concept to detailed engineering.
• Ensure all work designed, specified, supplied and manufactured complies with regulatory requirements.
• Participate in client meetings and represent the projects mechanical requirements.
• Promote and participate in business development to grow our Mechanical Building Sciences portfolio.

Qualifications and skill sets:

• Degree in Mechanical engineering with a minimum of 8 years experience.
• P.Eng. designation is mandatory.
• Knowledge and solid understanding of:

◦ Industry and regulatory codes including Ontario Building Code, ASHRAE, SMACNA, NFPA.

◦ Mechanical calculations (heat loss/gain, ventilation, hydraulic calculations, sanitary system calculations).

◦ Mechanical specifications for ducting, piping, fire protection and other mechanical building services.

• Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
• Must have exceptional written and oral communications skills with the ability to convey detailed technical information to managers, clients and peers.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, take and provide direction from others to ensure the supply of quality deliverables.
• Experience with the design of Fire protection systems and mechanical building services design experience is a plus.
