We are seeking a Principal Engineer - Simulation Specialist to join our CTO team in Sudbury/Toronto. This permanent hybrid position offers the chance to develop and implement advanced simulation models to optimize mining processes, focusing on the efficient movement and utilization of trucks, equipment, and materials.
Your responsibilities include creating and maintaining detailed simulation models, analyzing large datasets, identifying bottlenecks, and guiding operational improvements. You will play a key role in enhancing the efficiency and productivity of our mining operations through advanced simulation techniques, supporting sustainable practices.
Additional duties involve:
Familiarity with data analysis tools and project management is desirable.
Education: Undergraduate degree in Mining Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, or a related field. Certification in Data Analysis/Analytics.
Experience: Minimum of 11 years in developing and implementing discrete event and agent-based simulation models. Experience with simulation software (Arena, Simio, AnyLogic or similar), mining operational excellence, data analysis, coding, and exposure to multiple mining companies or consultancy is preferred.
Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication, ability to work independently and in teams, knowledge of mining operations, data analysis software (R, Python, MATLAB), familiarity with optimization, Lean, and Six Sigma methodologies, and project management experience.
