Job summary

Stoakley-Stewart Consultants Ltd. seeks a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer in Canada to lead fixture, jig, and tooling development for welding-intensive production environments.

You will own complex jigs and fixtures from concept to shop floor implementation, ensuring designs are practical, buildable, and robust. You will collaborate with fabrication teams, apply GD&T, mentor junior designers, and ensure designs translate effectively to real-world manufacturing contexts.

Qualifications

• Advanced, hands-on proficiency in SolidWorks
• Strong experience designing jigs and fixtures for production environments
• Practical understanding of welding processes and how they impact design decisions
• Solid understanding of GD&T and mechanical design principles
• Experience translating designs to fabrication and assembly
• Ability to design with real-world build and use in mind

Responsibilities

• Design and develop jigs, fixtures, and tooling systems emphasizing welding applications
• Create detailed 3D models and production drawings using SolidWorks
• Translate customer requirements into robust fixturing solutions for repeatable welding and assembly
• Collaborate with fabrication and production to align designs with welding constraints
• Apply GD&T to ensure accuracy, repeatability, and production success
• Mentor junior designers in fixture design and SolidWorks standards
