Job summary

Stantec Consulting International Ltd. seeks a Senior Mechanical Designer to join our Western Canada team, with openness to other locations in Canada.

You will develop mechanical models and documents for mining projects, coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams to satisfy project requirements. The role emphasizes 3D/2D design, collaboration with engineers, project managers, and mining specialists, and mentorship of junior designers while ensuring adherence to drafting standards and quality

Qualifications

Experience in an industrial and mining environment is required.
Experience with design of Mining facilities and infrastructure is a plus.
Experience with BIM360 / Autodesk Forma.
Proficient to Advanced knowledge of Autodesk software including AutoCAD, REVIT, Plant 3D, Inventor and Navisworks (2021 or higher).
Experience in AVEVA is a plus.
Ability to read and understand engineering drawings of all disciplines not required but preferred.
Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Work effectively in a team environment.
Excellent organizational skills.

Responsibilities

Working under supervision of Design Engineers, you will design and document mechanical deliverables.
Produce deliverables for project needs as an individual or as part of a team of mechanical engineers and designers.
Mechanical deliverables include general arrangements, bulk material handling equipment, piping for mining and related industries.
Use knowledge of machines, engineering practices, mathematics, building materials to complete drawings.
Work from schematics, sketches, and verbal instructions.
Assist other designers with project deliverables.
Report progression updates to Lead Designers or Project Managers.
Lead the work of junior designers and provide mentorship.
Provide material estimates to support procurement and estimating.
Lead model and drawing review meetings with internal and client teams.
Primary responsibilities: designing and drafting in 3D and 2D environments.
