Job summary

Pack-Smart Inc. in Concord, Ontario, is seeking a detail-driven Junior Mechanical Design Engineer to convert 3D SolidWorks models into production drawings for high-speed automation equipment.

You will create fabrication-ready drawings, assemble and sub-assembly views, and maintain BOMs while collaborating with machinists and senior engineers. Ideal candidates have 1–3 years in automation drafting and SolidWorks proficiency.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• 1–3 years of mechanical design or drafting experience in automation, packaging equipment, or custom machine building environments.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks, including part, assembly, sheet metal, weldment, and drawing environments.
• Strong understanding of drafting standards (ASME Y14.5), GD&T, tolerancing, and machining and fabrication processes.
• Experience with PDM/document control systems is an asset.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and openness to feedback.

Responsibilities

• Create detailed, fabrication-ready drawings of machined and fabricated components from 3D SolidWorks models, including sheet metal flat patterns and weldments.
• Prepare assembly and sub-assembly drawings with clear views, exploded views, and balloons that assemblers can follow on the floor.
• Apply dimensioning, tolerancing, GD&T, surface finish, material, and finish callouts in line with Pack-Smart and industry drafting standards.
• Build and maintain accurate bills of materials to support procurement, fabrication, and assembly.
• Check drawings against models for accuracy, and manage revisions, part numbering, and engineering changes within our PDM system.
• Collaborate with machinists, fabricators, and assemblers to resolve drawing questions and improve manufacturability.
• Support senior engineers with component modelling and design modifications as your skills develop.

Job Title: Junior MechanicalDesign Engineer – Bring World-Class Automation Designs to Life

We’re looking for adetail-driven Junior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our engineering teamand turn 3D SolidWorks designs into the production drawings that build ourmachines. In this role, you’ll be the link between our design engineers and theshop floor, creating clear, accurate drawings for our machinists, fabricators,and assemblers. Working alongside experienced engineers and designers, you’llsharpen your design and drafting skills on high-speed automation equipment forsome of the world’s most recognized brands, and grow into a long-term career inmechanical design!

Salary Range: $60,000 - $80,000 annually
