Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related.
• 15+ years of experience in design and engineering of material handling systems in mining/heavy industrial projects.
• Strong knowledge of conveyors, lifting equipment, automated systems, or bulk material handling.
• P.Eng. designation in Canada or eligibility.
• Experience solving real-world engineering challenges from equipment specs to system design and integration.
• Willingness to work in the field or onsite and adhere to safety requirements.
• Proficiency with mechanical design and modeling tools and ongoing skill development.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop material handling systems including conveyors, cranes, hoists, automated storage, and bulk material systems.
• Translate operational requirements into engineered solutions, layouts, and technical specifications.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate material handling solutions into broader facility designs.
• Support project delivery through calculations, drawings, cost estimates, and technical reports.
• Evaluate existing systems and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency, safety, and reliability.
• Participate in site visits, inspections, and commissioning activities to ensure design intent.
• Apply industry standards, codes, and best practices to deliver compliant, high-quality solutions.
• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to intermediate and junior engineers.
• Engage with clients, contractors, and internal partners to solve complex technical challenges and advance project delivery.
