The Tax Process Transformation Senior Manager will oversee the intersection of tax functions and technology solutions for Global Taxation. This role involves designing, developing, and embedding optimized global tax reporting processes, primarily using the Longview Tax Provisioning tool, to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance across income and indirect tax functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Tax Technology Strategy & Planning
- Develop and implement tax technology strategies aligned with organizational goals.
- Assess and recommend new technologies to improve compliance, reporting, and efficiency.
- Manage cross-functional teams to deploy tax technology solutions in Canada and other regions.
- Tax Compliance & Reporting Systems
- Oversee implementation and maintenance of tax compliance software and reporting tools.
- Ensure automation and compliance of tax reporting processes (VAT/GST, income tax, transfer pricing).
- Support calculation and filing of Notional Input Tax Credits for the SCENE loyalty program.
- Monitor and improve tax reporting technology to reduce manual efforts and increase accuracy.
- Automate analysis and tracking of indirect taxes at a transactional level across Canada.
- Create interactive visualizations and dashboards for risk detection and opportunity identification.
- Data Management & Automation
- Manage data integration between systems (ERP, financial systems).
- Identify and implement automation opportunities to reduce manual interventions.
- Use data analytics and reporting tools to support tax decision-making.
- Project Management
- Lead tax technology projects from inception to deployment, ensuring deadlines, budgets, and objectives are met.
- Collaborate with IT and other departments to deliver solutions on time.
- Manage vendors and third-party providers related to tax technology.
- Tax System Support & Maintenance
- Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting for tax systems.
- Maintain documentation for systems, processes, and procedures.
- Collaboration & Training
- Work with tax teams to understand needs and develop solutions.
- Train staff on new systems and tools.
- Foster collaboration across departments for seamless technology operation.
- Risk Management & Compliance
- Ensure systems adhere to data privacy and security regulations.
- Identify and manage risks related to tax technology use.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, IT, or related; Master’s or CPA is a plus.
- 5-7 years of experience in tax technology, compliance, or IT with tax focus.
- Knowledge of tax processes and global regulations.
- Experience with ERP (SAP, Oracle, Workday) and tax platforms (Longview).
- Strong project management skills.
- Proficiency in data management and reporting tools (Power BI, Tableau).
- Excellent problem-solving, attention to detail, and communication skills.
- Familiarity with AI or machine learning in tax is an asset.
