What is the opportunity?

RBC Home Equity Financing (HEF) is the leading lender of residential mortgages in Canada with over $400 billion in assets and is one of the largest lines of business within RBC. As part of the HEF Strategic Development and Transformation team, this role will provide the successful candidate with an opportunity to manage key transformational initiatives, support research and exploration of strategic opportunities as well as report on our results and performance narrative. This role will be expected to support priority strategic programs and initiatives within the HEF business.

One of the key responsibilities of this role is leading the program management efforts for the HEF Strategic Development and Transformation team. As part of this mandate, the successful candidate will plan and execute on complex, cross-enterprise programs ensuring operational effectiveness and business line focus, while balancing multiple and competing demands and priorities. The candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day orchestration, development and maintenance of key initiatives, broad strategic planning and detailed project schedules for multiple HEF programs, including our Artificial Intelligence Program. This role will report to the Director of Strategic Development & Transformation. This role acts as a point of control for any project financial metrics and processes and dashboard reporting for senior leadership and executives. This role will also be responsible for any project control management and artifact documentation (i.e., Issues, Risks, Assumptions, Dependencies etc.) and other general project reporting. As part of research and exploration, the role will enable opportunity spotting for consideration that would ultimately advance the strategic priorities and client value chain of HEF. Finally, reporting to senior leaders on our program and business performance results is an important part of the role to inform strategic decision making.

What will you do?

Large transformation program delivery:

  • Leads the core working group through a matrixed operating model, orchestrating the work effort for program delivery while working with a sense of urgency to manage project scope and priorities as well as conveying impact on metrics including budget, time, resources and risk

  • Engages with key internal partners noting interdependencies with adjacent transformation programs and priorities for an integrated view of a masterplan

  • Ensures adherence to senior level governance and oversight requirements, resolving complex issues and conflicts while escalating to executive level where required

Strategy and performance management support for executive decision making:

  • Prepares materials for both our business and transformation initiatives, effectively communicating a clear narrative for an executive audience

  • Conducts research for opportunity spotting to further advance our strategy

What do you need to succeed?

Must-Have:

  • 5+ years of program management experience with complex, large transformation programs

  • Experience managing programs with high level of value (benefit/cost), and a high level of uncertainty

  • Experience partnering with a variety of stakeholders and managing expectations with a sense of urgency

  • Strong organization and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to translate complex ideas into digestible and accessible executive level materials

  • Ability to exercise foresight and connect the dots

  • Undergraduate Degree/Diploma

  • Completion of Project Management specific training courses

Nice to Have:

  • External consulting experience

  • Experience working in a financial institution

  • Understanding of AI to add value and deepen the messaging in executive materials

  • Project Management Professional/Program Management Professional (PMP/PGMP) Designation
