Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Manager of Software Development, Automation to lead and transform our engineering efforts around software automation, infrastructure, and developer efficiency. This strategic leader will drive innovation in engineering workflows, build scalable automation frameworks, and enable high-quality delivery across our hybrid application environment, with a strong emphasis on C++, Java, web, and mobile platforms.
Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategy
- Lead a team of engineers focused on building automation frameworks, infrastructure tooling, and continuous delivery systems.
- Develop and execute an automation-first engineering strategy aligned with business and product objectives.
- Drive a culture of technical excellence, automation, and reliability across the software development lifecycle.
Automation Engineering
- Architect and scale reliable automation solutions for C++ desktop applications, Java-based services, and cross-platform (browser and mobile) experiences.
- Integrate automation into CI/CD pipelines to ensure rapid, reliable, and repeatable delivery.
Engineering Reliability
- Establish clear metrics for test and deployment reliability; proactively identify, analyze, and eliminate flaky or brittle automation.
- Focus on maintaining trust in automation results and enabling faster decision-making for engineers.
Tooling & Innovation
- Evaluate and implement modern tools and technologies, including AI/LLM-driven automation and MCP (Model Context Protocols), to simplify complex engineering challenges.
- Lead exploration and experimentation to bring fresh approaches to how we build and test software.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with product managers, designers, and other engineering leaders to deliver scalable, high-quality solutions.
- Serve as a trusted advisor in all things automation and engineering infrastructure.
People & Team Management
- Hire, mentor, and grow a high-performing, diverse team of engineers.
- Foster a learning-oriented environment that promotes technical depth, ownership, and continuous improvement.
Minimum Qualifications
- 8+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years in a leadership role.
- Hands-on expertise in C++, Java, and modern cloud-native development practices.
- Deep experience with engineering tooling, automation frameworks, and platform integration.
- Proven experience leading and scaling software engineering teams.
- Ability to set vision, prioritize execution, and align technical efforts with product and business goals.
- Demonstrated success implementing automation-first strategies that improve velocity and reliability.
- Experience integrating automated workflows into CI/CD systems like GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills; capable of resolving complex issues and scaling systems for growth.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience building solutions for hybrid application environments (desktop, browser, and mobile).
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) for scalable automation and testing.
- Understanding of how AI/ML can be applied to enhance automation pipelines.
