Reporting to the Head, Safety (OSS), the incumbent will be responsible for driving activities in the North America Region to support continuous improvement in regional aviation safety.
Specifically, the Senior Manager, Safety will be responsible for utilizing centrally coordinated IATA policies and procedures to support advancements in regional safety performance. They will proactively identify new and emerging regional issues impacting aviation safety, collaborating with IATA experts to determine if these issues are systemic or local, and lead safety initiatives to build capacity. The role involves interfacing with the FAA and Transport Canada on regulatory matters, representing IATA in various regulator activity groups, and ensuring IATA and member positions are reflected in consultations.
The role also includes supporting initiatives to enhance safety throughout North America by engaging with airlines, government authorities, stakeholders, air navigation service providers, airports, international agencies, and ICAO.
You will leverage the IATA Safety Strategy to deliver safety priorities, support safety improvement programs, and promote safety strategies with relevant authorities. You will develop safety activities, engage stakeholders, promote the IATA Safety Strategy, support the IOSA program, coordinate airline input during rule-making, respond to operational issues, and contribute to the commercial strategy by promoting IATA products and services.
