Job summary

Scotiabank in Toronto seeks a Senior Manager, Portfolio Management and Analytics for a 12-month term to lead Retail Deposits Pricing & Portfolio Management. You will set priorities, drive growth, and oversee pricing, governance and risk controls to meet corporate objectives.

You will partner with Finance and Product, lead a high-performing team, and present to senior leaders on strategy, performance, and investment opportunities. Robust analytics and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in economics, finance or analytics.
  • 5+ years of experience in financial services with retail deposits focus.
  • Advanced user of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with SAS/SQL preferred.
  • Experience in product P&L management, Finance or Business Analytics.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead annual planning, forecasting and performance management for a portfolio exceeding $33B in assets.
  • Develop and execute portfolio strategies, operating plans and business priorities.
  • Partner with senior leadership to establish objectives and investment priorities.
  • Oversee pricing and portfolio management strategies aligned with market conditions.
  • Develop business cases and investment initiatives with financial impact.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, governance and internal controls.
  • Lead execution, evaluation and improvement of strategic investments.
  • Coach and develop a high-performing team with succession planning.

The Role:


The Senior Manager, Porfolio Management and Analytics, provides strategic leadership for Retail Deposits Pricing & Portfolio Management in Canada. The role is accountable for establishing business priorities, leading portfolio growth and profitability strategies, overseeing pricing and portfolio management activities, ensuring the achievement of organizational objectives. This role contributes to the development and execution of strategies while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, governance standards, internal controls, and the Bank’s risk management framework.

  • Lead annual planning, forecasting, and performance management activities for a portfolio exceeding $33 billion in assets, partnering with Finance and Product to drive business performance and strategic decision-making and sustainable growth.

  • Develop and execute portfolio strategies, operating plans, and business priorities to drive sustainable growth, profitability, and market competitiveness.

  • Partner with senior leadership to establish annual objectives, long-term portfolio strategies, and key business initiatives supporting the Retail Banking mandate.

  • Oversee pricing and portfolio management strategies, including pass-through decisions in partnership with Product, ensuring alignment with market conditions, Bank of Canada rates and organizational objectives.

  • Develop business cases and investment initiatives with significant financial, operational, and customer impacts.

  • Ensure business activities comply with regulatory requirements, corporate policies, risk appetite, and internal control standards.

  • Oversee the execution, post-implementation evaluation, and organizational performance assessment of strategic investment initiatives, to ensure delivery against business objectives and identify continuous improvement opportunities.

  • Foster a high-performance culture focused on accountability, innovation, collaboration, and operational excellence.

  • Represent Retail Deposits & Investments in senior leadership forums, governance committees, and strategic planning discussions.

  • Lead strategic discussions regarding portfolio growth opportunities, resource allocation, pricing direction, and investment priorities.

  • Provide recommendations to senior executives on business performance, strategic opportunities, and organizational priorities.

  • Lead, coach and develop a high-performing team through effective performance management, talent development and succession planning to build organizational capability.


Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:



  • Bachelor’s degree in economics, finance, or analytics.

  • Post-secondary education in commerce, business, economics, finance or analytics; MBA/CFA/PMP would be considered an asset

  • 5+ years of experience in financial services industry particularly with retail deposits focus

  • Advanced user of Microsoft products including Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint

  • Working experience with SAS/SQL preferred

  • Experience in product P&L management, Finance and/or Business Analytics

  • Good understanding of savings market, products, services, and processes

  • Strong analytical and communication skills

  • Solid project management skills to prioritize, manage and implement competing initiatives

  • Highly effective in strategic influencing

  • Proven ability to manage conflicting priorities/mandates/agendas as well as potential situations with strong differences of opinion

  • Excellent time management skills and a proven ability to meet deadlines Advanced user of Microsoft products including Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint • Working experience with SAS/SQL preferred
