The Team

Global Banking and Markets Engineering (GBME) is the fast-moving, award-winning technology engine that powers Scotiabank’s Corporate, Investment Banking, and Capital Markets businesses.

The Role

GBME is searching for a Senior Manager, Technical Analysis to liaison between business stakeholders and internal engineering and architect teams, ensuring solutions are developed and delivered on time, efficiently and with high quality for various projects within GBME.

The successful candidate will have a results-oriented and curious mindset with strong technical skills. You will work closely with cross functional teams, including engineers, solutions architects, and business teams to develop and implement market leading solutions that are scalable and deliver excellence, and value to our business partners and customers.

Is this role right for you? In this role you will:

  • Demonstrate an informed knowledge of business functions to resolve problems and capitalize on improvement opportunities.
  • Ensure business specifications/requirements documentation is accurately prepared and comprehensive to support sizing/development efforts and as input to various project documentation.
  • Participate in the development of detailed project plans, the monitoring of progress against planned objectives, the financial review, and securing consensus and co-operation from users and senior management.
  • Work closely across GBME technology teams during all stages of the system development life cycle and bridge the gap between business and technology sides of the solution.
  • Build relationships and communicate effectively with colleagues in Global regions.
  • Support production issues and handle escalations during Release cycles as needed.
  • Perform ad hoc work as needed

Industry & Domain Expertise

  • 7+ years’ experience in capital markets technology.
  • Strong understanding of trade lifecycle processes (booking, corporate actions, rate resets, cashflows).
  • Experience assessing impacts of system changes across front-, middle-, and back-office environments.
  • Knowledge of banking/application systems from a business and technical viewpoint.

Leadership & Delivery

  • 3+ years leading cross-functional teams and managing end-to-end delivery of capital markets technology initiatives.
  • Proven ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications and drive solutions to completion.
  • Strong facilitation and communication skills for engagement with traders, developers, compliance, vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to maintain alignment across diverse teams and foster effective collaboration.

Technical Skills

  • 5+ years working with SQL Server or similar RDBMS, including independent creation and execution of advanced queries.
  • Experience with SQL queries, PL/SQL, SQL Loader, or equivalent data transformation tools.
  • Proficiency in Unix/Linux environments and shell scripting (Bash, Python, Perl).
  • Familiarity with messaging technologies (Kafka) and exposure to full SDLC lifecycle.
