EPCOR's Water Services group (EWS) is excited to announce a permanent full-time opportunity for a Pipe Asset Engineering Senior Manager . This role is part of the Engineering & Technical Services Team and is based at our Rossdale Water Treatment Pla nt in Edmonton, Alberta.

In the Pipe Asset Engineering Senior Manager role you will p rovide design engineering services to water/wastewater/stormwater pipeline infrastructure. This includes engineering design drawings for various water capital programs, sewer rehabilitation programs, and deep shaft construction programs. Provision of drafting and asset recording services for the entire Water Services. This includes both water and wastewater infrastructure along with both water and wastewater treatment plants. Development of technical studies for linear infrastructure to support planning, capital prioritization, growth and long-term operational planning. These include providing engineering evaluations for management of change processes for water and wastewater linear infrastructure. Implementation of asset management planning, and ownership of water and wastewater linear infrastructure design standards. This also includes the liaison with external parties such as the City of Edmonton and BILD for review and approval as needed

What you’d be responsible for

In the role of Pipe Asset Engineering Senior Manager , you are accountable to the Engineering & Technical Services Director and will have the following key accountabilities (but are not limited to these):

Strategic Planning & Execution

  • Develop and implement functional strategies and operational plans with clear priorities and objectives.
  • Align efforts with business plans, budget, and resource needs while monitoring execution and adapting to challenges.
  • Drive operational excellence by leveraging industry advancements, continuous improvement, and change management strategies.
  • Provide design and engineering services for water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure, including planning and specifications.
  • Act as a resident engineer for in-house construction projects and offer specialized structural and geotechnical expertise.
  • Support franchise relocation work, liaise with external stakeholders, and maintain technical design standards.
  • Conduct asset condition assessments and modeling to inform engineering decisions.

Drafting & Asset Management

  • Deliver drafting and recording services for water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
  • Manage data integration from capital programs, private developments, and city projects.
  • Oversee utility line assignments and review processes for stakeholder requests.
  • Recruit, engage, and develop high-performing teams with clear goals and accountability.
  • Foster strong cross-functional relationships and consult with stakeholders to drive informed decision-making.
  • Promote collaboration across functions to ensure alignment, technical expertise, and effective business integration.

What’s required to be successful

Qualifications, experience and behaviours you possess are:

  • Completion of a n Engineering Degree from a recognized post-secondary educational institute.
  • Registered as a P. Eng with APEGA or eligible for registration
    • If not already registered as a P. Eng with APEGA must be registered within 6 months of hire date.
  • Experience that is comprised of the following:
    • 10+ years in water/wastewater industry
    • Preferred experience in engineering teams in water, wastewater or related/relevant industries
    • Leadership roles and leading diverse teams
  • Understanding and applying APEGA practices and regulations.
  • Preparing clear, concise, and professional reports.
  • Managing and implementing change effectively.
  • Facilitating cross-functional communication and collaboration within EPCOR to enhance efficiency and integration.
