Position Summary
Reporting to the Director, Operations, the Senior Manager, Human Resources is responsible for providing strategic leadership in developing employee and labour relations solutions to contribute to plant success.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead the strategic execution of labour relations, including grievance resolution, union engagement, and bargaining.
- Proactively identify opportunities, risks, and trends to provide strategic recommendations for people initiatives aligned with business plans.
- Collaborate with the Operations team to ensure effective strategies are applied towards recruitment needs and labour utilization.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in organizational capabilities; create and facilitate programs to address gaps.
- Develop and lead programs to enhance employee morale, satisfaction, and retention.
- Drive talent and leadership development strategies that build facility bench strength and future workforce capacity.
- Ensure best practices in human resource management are implemented by collaborating with peers and colleagues.
- Act as a cultural ambassador for Sofina's company culture, Blueprint, and Guiding Principles.
- Provide leadership to the HR team with a focus on career development of team members.
- Act as a change agent within the facility, focused on continuous improvement of People and Culture.
- Lead the collection, analysis, and communication of key data linked to critical business areas, making appropriate recommendations to address gaps.
Requirements
- A degree in Labour Relations or Human Resources Management; CHRL designation is highly preferred.
- 10-15 years of experience in Labour Relations at a managerial level, leading a team of HR professionals.
- Proven work experience in a unionized manufacturing/processing environment.
- Strong understanding of employee and labour relations practices and the collective bargaining process.
- Strong influencing, negotiation, and conciliation skills, with well-developed partnership and communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications.
