Description

This is where you come in, as a Senior Manager, Global Sourcing, you’ll connect global category strategy to regional execution, maximizing product margins, strengthening our supply base, and leading sourcing operations across North America and Vietnam.

Why We Need You:

Our Global Sourcing team connects Article’s category strategy with the regional teams and vendor partners who bring our products to life. The Senior Manager, Global Sourcing serves as a Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for Article's internal customers, including Category Management, Product Design, Technical Product Development and Quality Assurance, and provides leadership to the Sourcing operations teams in North America and Vietnam.

Strategically positioned to link global category strategy to regional operational execution, this role holds immediate accountability for maximizing product margins, driving global category procurement plans, finalizing cost grids, and managing product and vendor allocations.

The position is designed to decouple category strategy from daily vendor management, enabling regional back-office teams in Vietnam and Mexico to specialize in factory-facing, day-to-day execution. You’ll act as a high-value "quarterback" for the business, driving footprint diversification, mitigating single points of failure and monopolization risks, and actively engineering solutions to regional bottlenecks during local North American business hours.

We are currently hiring for two Senior Managers, Global Sourcing.

About the Global Sourcing Team:

You’ll provide leadership to sourcing operations teams across Asia and North America, including Sourcing Managers and Specialists in our regional hubs.

Our regional teams work closely with Article’s Product Engine and vendor partners to turn category strategies into strong commercial and operational outcomes. You’ll help create clarity across these groups while ensuring regional teams have the direction and decision-making boundaries they need to execute effectively.

We are a hybrid team. You'll be in our Vancouver HQ a minimum of 3 days per week, with up to 2 days per week working from home. Schedule requirements may evolve according to business needs.

What You’ll Do

Global Category Strategy & Internal Business Partnering

• Serve as the primary strategic point of contact (SPOC) for the Category Management Team to drive cross-functional sourcing strategies and help deliver catalog expansion.
• Translate high-level commercial briefs and needs into actionable global category procurement plans.
• Own and run the Category Positioning Matrix annually to balance business impact scores against supply market risks across the category portfolio.
• Coordinate the end-to-end commercialization calendar across the value chain, ensuring strict alignment of New Product Introductions (NPI) and Supply Chain Risk Reduction (SCRR) projects with brand launch milestones.

Cost Governance & Commercial Negotiations

• Hold accountability for cost targets, manufacturing defects, and total landed-cost optimization.
• Lead complex commercial negotiations and drive Bill of Material (BOM) level visibility for better decision-making.

Footprint Diversification & Supply Chain Resilience

• Architect and execute regional supply base diversification strategies across North America, Southeast Asia, and emerging markets to buffer Article against geopolitical disruption.
• De-risk the category portfolio by expanding the vendor ecosystem to systematically dismantle single-source dependencies and corporate monopoly risks.
• Work collaboratively with Product Quality to drive down the Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) by systematically reviewing, developing, or phasing out underperforming suppliers.

Regional Leadership & Bottleneck Resolution

• Provide strategic direction, clear decision-making boundaries, and leadership to in-region back-office execution teams, including Sourcing Managers and Specialists in regional hubs.
• Act as the immediate escalation path to unblock regional, cross-functional, and factory-level constraints during North American business hours, reducing cycle times and preventing project stagnation.
• Review, monitor, and guide vendors on capacity constraints, including labor, tooling, facility, and raw material safety stock levels, to safeguard Article's production lead times and delivery commitments.

Supplier Performance

• Own global vendor accountability metrics, specifically On-Time In-Full (OTIF) production, cost of product, and factory defect rates, to relentlessly drive down Article’s total Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) and protect brand integrity.

Who You Are

• 8+ years of progressive sourcing experience in global strategic sourcing, retail procurement, or end-to-end supply chain leadership.
• Retail furniture or high-velocity apparel experience is heavily preferred, with documented success navigating specialized category dynamics, materials economics such as wood, textiles, and upholstery, and seasonal capacity constraints.
• Proven track record of executing supply footprint transformations, vendor rationalization, and multi-regional risk mitigation initiatives.
• Demonstrated experience working within a matrixed organizational structure, successfully collaborating across functional boundaries including Design, Technical Product Development, Quality Assurance, Finance, and Planning, and managing distributed international teams.

• High-Stakes Commercial Governance: Understanding of cost breakdowns, volume-based pricing strategies, supplier selection frameworks, and Master Service Agreements.
• Strategic & Analytical Problem Solving: Highly data-driven mindset with advanced proficiency in financial scenario modeling and landed-margin risk calculations.
• Orchestration & Boundary Setting: Exceptional interpersonal skills and high emotional intelligence to handle cross-functional friction while maintaining strict administrative discipline to shield core teams from ad-hoc operational distractions.
• Workflow & System Agility: Experience leveraging structured project management and pipeline environments, such as Wrike workflows, to maintain complete data visibility and predictability.

• Comfortable setting and managing your schedule to provide appropriate coverage for HQ stakeholders and remote teams across Asia and North America while keeping the workday balanced.
• 25%-35% international and domestic travel, approximately 4–5 trips per year, to regional offices, vendor facilities, and industry events across North America, Asia, and Europe.
• Travel may be more frequent in your first year as you build relationships with regional teams, establish local networks, and spend time with vendor partners. Travel may also include industry expos in the United States.
