Job description

Our client, a major Canadian bank, is seeking a Senior Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis to join their Community Investment Foundation team. This is a newly created role that reflects the expansion and growing impact of the Foundation's work in delivering on the bank's ESG mandate and strengthening social impact across communities. Reporting to the Executive Director, this role is critical in overseeing the Foundation's financial operations, ensuring compliance, and supporting strategic decision-making.

This opportunity allows you to contribute meaningfully to community initiatives while influencing the financial direction of a major philanthropic organization. It is ideal for a seasoned financial professional with nonprofit experience who is eager to lead, collaborate, and grow within a purpose-driven environment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all financial management activities of the Foundation, ensuring regulatory and accounting compliance.
  • Manage the Foundation Finance System, ensuring accurate reporting and robust internal controls.
  • Prepare financial statements, contribution reconciliations, and cashflow forecasts.
  • Create board packages, financial reports, and speaking notes for executive meetings.
  • Support the Treasurer and Finance Committee in fulfilling fiduciary responsibilities.
  • Lead the development and execution of finance policies and long-term strategic planning.
  • Collaborate with auditors and tax counsel to ensure smooth audit and filing processes.
  • Monitor investments, evaluate impact forecasts, and provide actionable insights to leadership.
  • Mentor team members and champion cross-functional collaboration.
  • Mitigate financial risks through compliance monitoring and proactive risk management.

Qualifications

Must-Have :

  • 7+ years of experience in financial management.
  • 3+ years of financial management experience within a Canadian nonprofit organization.
  • 5+ years of proficiency with nonprofit financial software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.

Nice to Have :

  • CPA or equivalent professional designation.

  • Results-oriented mindset.
  • Collaborative and adaptable with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Effective communicator with strong verbal and written communication capabilities.
