Job summary

Vaco is seeking a Senior Finance Manager to provide strategic leadership for the accounting team and oversee international operations. The role partners with FP&A to support key decisions through financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.

The successful candidate will have a CPA/CA designation, strong IFRS knowledge, and 7–10 years of leadership experience, with excellent communication and presentation skills. Toronto-area work authorization is required.

Responsibilities

• Lead accounting team with strategic direction for global operations.

• Strengthen internal controls and financial governance to mitigate risks.

• Maintain accounting policies and SOX/compliance documentation across jurisdictions.
• Oversee treasury activities, including cash flow forecasting and working capital optimization.

• Champion the use of finance systems to improve reporting accuracy and scalability.
• Act as primary lead for annual external audit and manage relationships with audit partners.

About the Opportunity

• Provide strategic leadership, coaching, and development for the accounting team, fostering a high-performing and collaborative environment.
• Oversee international accounting operations, coordinating with external accounting service providers to ensure accurate and timely financial information across global business units.
• Work closely with Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) to support strategic decision-making through financial analysis, management reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Direct the preparation and consolidation of financial statements across international entities, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance with IFRS reporting requirements, including relevant disclosures and supporting documentation.
• Strengthen the organization's financial governance framework by identifying reporting risks, implementing appropriate internal controls, and monitoring their ongoing effectiveness.
• Lead technical accounting assessments and prepare or review accounting position papers, collaborating with external auditors and other stakeholders to resolve complex accounting matters.
• Drive continuous improvement across accounting operations, streamlining workflows and enhancing the efficiency and timeliness of the financial close and reporting cycles.
• Establish and maintain robust accounting policies, procedures, and control documentation to support compliance with IFRS, SOX requirements, and applicable regulatory and statutory obligations across relevant jurisdictions.
• Oversee treasury operations, including cash flow forecasting, liquidity planning, and working capital optimization.
• Manage international tax compliance in partnership with external tax advisors, overseeing tax filings across multiple jurisdictions and identifying opportunities to improve tax efficiency.
• Champion the effective use and ongoing enhancement of accounting platforms and financial systems, leveraging technology to improve reporting accuracy, operational efficiency, and scalability.
• Serve as the primary lead for the annual external audit, coordinating audit activities, managing deliverables, and maintaining productive relationships with external audit partners.
