Job description

WHAT ON EARTH IS DECIEM?

We are a collective of disrupters and doers, of creatives and scientists, with a mission to reimagine the world of beauty.

Since inception, our vertically integrated structure, including our own laboratories, manufacturing, retail stores, and brand infrastructure, have enabled us to rapidly identify opportunities and deliver quality. Home to The Ordinary, NIOD, AVESTAN, and other emerging brands, our goal is to create with purpose. We were founded on the principle of doing everything that others don’t. Because normal gets you nowhere.

We are DECIEM, The Abnormal Beauty Company.

We are growing rapidly and we’re looking for someone who shares this vision and wants to grow with us!

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

The Senior Manager, Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) is responsible for leading all EHS programs at Manufacturing Operations in Ontario, Distribution Centre Operations in Ontario and New Jersey, and supporting EHS at the Fraser Head Office location in Ontario. The position reports to the Director, Manufacturing Operations, with a single cost-centre reporting line to Manufacturing, while working collaboratively with the Commercial EHS team. The Senior Manager manages the Specialist, Environment, Health and Safety.

This role establishes EHS priorities, metrics, goals, and standardized processes across sites while serving as the primary liaison with regulatory bodies. The Senior Manager drives a culture of safety and supports operational excellence through accident and injury prevention, behavior-based safety initiatives, ergonomics, risk assessments, audits, and incident investigations. The role includes emergency planning and response, safety communications, corrective action follow-up, safety data maintenance, and providing technical guidance and coaching across sites. The Senior Manager also supports shop-floor compliance through procedure audits, management walkthroughs, machine safety reviews, and Ontario Fire Code activities.

The role oversees training program implementation, employee onboarding, and Joint Health and Safety Committees, while supporting ISO 14001 activities and environmental improvement projects. Responsibilities also include environmental sampling and reporting, KPI tracking, Pre-Start Health and Safety Review (PSR) documentation, and maintaining regulatory compliance. Additionally, the Senior Manager oversees contractor EHS compliance, including contractor database maintenance and reviews of safety documentation, training records, insurance, and Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) documentation, while responding to daily operational concerns and driving continuous improvement across all supported locations.

This position is a full-time and permanent position based out of our Manufacturing and Production Facility located in Etobicoke. This position requires candidates to work on-site 5-days a week.

PAY RANGE

The anticipated hourly range for this position is $110,000 to $120,000.

Exact hourly rate depends on several factors such as experience, skills, education, and budget. Hourly range may vary based on geographic location.

WHAT YOU'D BE DOING IN THIS ROLE
  • Establish operational priorities by defining high-level EHS strategy, metrics, goals, and standards to drive process integration and ensure EHS ownership across all facilities.
  • Lead EHS program and process development across all assigned sites to ensure consistency and excellence.
  • Track, analyze, and present key EHS metrics, site trends, and performance data to leadership, directly aligning EHS objectives with broader business goals.
  • Serve as the primary corporate point of contact and representative with federal, provincial, and local regulatory authorities regarding EHS matters.
  • Provide high-level technical expertise and day-to-day advisory support to facility leadership and frontline manufacturing teams to resolve operational safety concerns promptly.
  • Facilitate and mentor Joint Health and Safety Committees (JHSC) and designated Health and Safety Representatives across sites, ensuring fully compliant and active governance.
  • Design, implement, and track standardized EHS training modules, onboarding toolkits, and safety education programs to ensure regulatory compliance and continuous skill development.
  • Oversee and manage site-level EHS Management Systems, conducting routine compliance audits and operational reviews to verify regulatory and policy adherence.
  • Direct, mentor, and empower the Specialist, Environment Health and Safety to drive high performance, build technical capability, and foster operational excellence across all facilities.
  • Establish clear, measurable performance objectives and key results (OKRs) for direct report; conduct regular performance reviews and actively facilitate individual development plans (IDPs) to build functional and interpersonal capabilities.
  • Champion a GROW-focused culture through continuous, actionable coaching and constructive feedback that motivates team members, accelerates personal growth, and supports retention.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED TO GET THE JOB DONE
  • Recognized professional EHS designation or Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety preferred.
  • 5-7+ years of progressive, hands-on EHS leadership experience within fast-paced manufacturing, distribution, warehousing, consumer packaged goods (CPG), or pharmaceutical environments.
  • Minimum 2–3 years of direct people management experience, with a proven track record of coaching, developing, and leading multi-site EHS teams.
  • Deep expertise in Ontario EHS legislation, including the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) mandates, WSIB reporting, and provincial environmental permitting/compliance (ECA, NPRI, ChemTrac, RPRA).
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of U.S. federal and state regulations, including OSHA standards.
