Since inception, our vertically integrated structure, including our own laboratories, manufacturing, retail stores, and brand infrastructure, have enabled us to rapidly identify opportunities and deliver quality. Home to The Ordinary, NIOD, AVESTAN, and other emerging brands, our goal is to create with purpose. We were founded on the principle of doing everything that others don’t. Because normal gets you nowhere.

We are DECIEM, The Abnormal Beauty Company.

We are growing rapidly and we’re looking for someone who shares this vision and wants to grow with us!

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

The Human Resources Generalist (Office & Retail) plays a pivotal role in supporting the DECIEM HR framework across corporate and retail environments. Acting as a strategic partner, this role blends day-to-day HR administration with proactive consulting support to foster team member engagement, maintain regulatory compliance, and drive organizational performance. A core focus of this role is to support HRBPs in all areas of HR, serving as a reliable partner in execution, managing key employee lifecycle processes, and assisting with team-wide initiatives. The ideal candidate brings a blend of technical HR expertise, an entrepreneurial mindset, and the ability to guide people managers through change, conflict resolution, and performance accountability in alignment with DECIEM’s culture and vision.

This is a contract role ending October 1, 2027.

This is a hybrid role, based three days out of our Toronto office.

PAY RANGE

The anticipated base salary for this position is $65,000 - $70,000.

Exact salary depends on several factors such as experience, skills, education, and budget. Salary range may vary based on geographic location.

WHAT YOU’D BE DOING IN THIS ROLE
  • Partner with HR Business Partners to support day-to-day HR operations, employee lifecycle processes, and the execution of HR programs and initiatives across corporate and retail teams.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for Retail Canada, providing guidance on HR policies, processes, programs, and employee-related inquiries.
  • Support People Managers with employee relations, performance management, conflict resolution, progressive discipline, coaching, and employee development.
  • Manage parental leaves and leaves of absence, including Team Member meetings, accommodations, and return-to-work plans, ensuring compliance with applicable employment legislation.
  • Coordinate onboarding and offboarding activities, including new hire orientation, training plans, exit interviews, and employment documentation.
  • Maintain accurate Team Member records and HRIS data in Ceridian Dayforce, ensuring information is up to date and HR processes are completed efficiently.
  • Prepare employment documentation, including offer letters, employment change and termination letters, employment verification, business travel letters, and reference checks.
  • Conduct HR file audits, support employment standards compliance, review Health & Safety incident reports, and assist with related initiatives and training.
  • Gather and analyze HR data, prepare reports, and collaborate with HR Shared Services and cross-functional stakeholders to support effective decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Support Team Member engagement and culture initiatives, including recognition programs, team-building activities, listening sessions, and the onboarding and offboarding of external vendors and consultants.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED TO GET THE JOB DONE
  • 3+ years of HR Generalist experience, ideally within a multinational or fast-paced organization, with a relevant degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian and U.S. employment legislation, HR best practices, employee relations, performance management, and HR administration.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships and provide guidance to People Managers and Team Members.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage competing priorities, maintain accurate documentation, and handle confidential information with professionalism and sound judgment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HRIS platforms; experience with Ceridian Dayforce and Lattice is an asset. Adaptability, initiative, and an entrepreneurial mindset are essential to thrive in a dynamic, evolving environment.
