Position Overview

Our Client, a successful Canadian commercial financing business, is seeking a Senior Manager, Corporate Finance to join its growing finance function. Reporting to the CFO, the Senior Manager will support financial decision-making and take a hands-on role in financial modelling, cash flow forecasting and the evaluation of business opportunities, including portfolio acquisitions, asset sales and partnerships. Working closely with senior finance leaders, treasury and external advisors, the successful candidate will assess how funding arrangements, intercompany transactions and corporate structures affect cash availability, profitability and tax outcomes.

The ideal candidate has strong financial modelling skills, sound accounting foundations and strong business acumen. The Manager will bring experience in corporate finance, FP&A or a broader finance role, together with the commercial judgment to translate complex analysis into practical recommendations.

This is an attractive opportunity to work closely with senior leadership, influence business decisions, and build broad experience across financing, transactions, and financial planning. The role offers scope to earn broader finance and leadership responsibilities over time.

Role Responsibilities
  • Develop an integrated view of cash balances, intercompany funding and capital requirements across the business, identifying constraints and opportunities to improve the use of available funds.
  • Build and maintain financial models to evaluate business opportunities, portfolio acquisitions and sales, partnerships, and other strategic initiatives.
  • Prepare cash flow forecasts and scenario analyses to assess liquidity, funding needs and the financial implications of proposed transactions.
  • Partner with the CFO and Treasury team to analyze cash movements, financing arrangements and intercompany transfers, supporting effective funding and capital allocation decisions.
  • Assess the profitability, cash flow and tax implications of dividends, asset transfers and alternative corporate structures, working with senior finance leaders and external advisors on technical matters.
  • Translate complex financial analysis into clear recommendations, explaining key assumptions, risks and commercial implications to support management decisions.
  • Contribute to budgeting, forecasting and performance analysis, investigating business drivers and identifying opportunities to improve profitability.
  • Work closely with accounting, treasury and operational colleagues to gather and validate financial information, reconcile modelling assumptions and prepare detailed supporting analyses.
  • Improve financial models, working papers and forecasting processes, increasing accuracy and efficiency through better tools and automation.
  • Undertake special financial projects and ad hoc analysis for the CFO as business needs evolve.
Desired Qualifications
  • A minimum of five years of progressive experience in corporate finance, FP&A, financial reporting or a related finance role.
  • Strong financial modelling skills, including experience building models to evaluate cash flows, profitability and business decisions.
  • A solid foundation in accounting and financial statements, with the ability to understand how transactions affect earnings, cash flow and the balance sheet.
  • An interest in understanding the tax implications of business decisions and the ability to develop this knowledge with guidance from senior finance leaders and external advisors.
  • Advanced Excel skills and the ability to work with complex financial data, test assumptions and produce accurate, well-supported analysis.
  • Strong commercial judgment and intellectual curiosity, with the ability to investigate unfamiliar issues and develop practical recommendations.
  • Clear communication skills, including the ability to explain financial analysis and recommendations to colleagues across finance and the business.
  • A hands-on, adaptable approach, with strong ownership of deliverables, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Exposure to acquisitions, portfolio transactions, valuations or the evaluation of new business opportunities is an asset.
  • A CPA designation or equivalent is an asset.

Please note that at present, legal eligibility to work in Canada is a prerequisite for this role.
