Job summary

Irving Oil is seeking a Senior Manager, Business Systems Analysis - Operational Technology to lead the OT application portfolio and align technology with operational priorities. You will partner with business leaders to deliver reliable, scalable technology services that enable operational excellence, safety, and growth.

You will build strong teams, manage budgets and governance, and mentor talent while advancing cybersecurity and enterprise standards across Refining, Planning, and Engineering

Qualifications

  • Minimum 15 years of technology experience with at least 5 years leading technology teams and services.
  • Proven experience managing business applications and technology portfolios.
  • Ability to translate business priorities into technology plans, investments and solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of Business Technology professionals delivering and supporting technology services across Refining, Supply, Planning & Trading, Engineering, Procurement, and Capital Portfolio functions.
  • Support organizational change management, stakeholder engagement, communication, and adoption activities to maximize value of technology solutions.
  • Serve as primary technology partner for business leaders, translating priorities into plans and investments.
  • Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders to ensure technology services support objectives.
  • Oversee delivery of applications and services per enterprise policies, standards, security, and governance.
  • Manage service agreements, vendor relationships, technology risks, and cybersecurity requirements.
  • Lead technology projects and portfolio delivery including requirements, prioritization, and resource planning.
  • Develop, coach, and mentor a high-performing team with talent management and development.

As the Senior Manager, Business Systems Analysis - Operational Technology, you will lead the business application layer supporting Irving Oil's operational business teams, ensuring applications, data, and technology capabilities are aligned with business priorities and operational objectives. Your goal will be to evolve and optimize the operational technology application portfolio, balancing business needs, technology investments, and architectural standards to deliver reliable, scalable, and value-driven solutions. Your success will depend on building strong partnerships with business leaders, leading high-performing teams, and delivering technology services and initiatives that enable operational excellence, business growth, reliability, and safety.

Your Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of Business Technology professionals responsible for delivering and supporting technology services across Refining, Supply, Planning & Trading, Engineering, Procurement, and Capital Portfolio functions
  • Support organizational change management, stakeholder engagement, communication, and adoption activities to maximize the value and successful implementation of technology solutions
  • Serve as the primary technology partner for business leaders, translating business priorities into technology plans, investments, and solutions
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders to ensure technology services effectively support operational and strategic objectives
  • Oversee the delivery of application and technology services in accordance with enterprise policies, standards, processes, security requirements, compliance requirements, and governance frameworks
  • Ensure effective management of service agreements, vendor relationships, technology risks, cybersecurity requirements, and service performance
  • Lead technology projects and portfolio delivery, including business requirements gathering, prioritization, resource planning, and value realization
  • Develop, coach, and mentor a high-performing team while leading talent management, succession planning, performance management, and employee development activities
Your Skills
  • Deep understanding of how technology enables operational excellence, reliability, safety, and commercial performance in complex, asset-intensive environments, with the ability to align technology strategies and investments to business objectives
  • Strong leadership capabilities with a proven track record of building high-performing teams, developing talent, fostering accountability, and leading cross‑functional business and technology transformation initiatives
  • Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, facilitation, negotiation, and conflict‑resolution skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into business‑focused outcomes
  • Experience managing application portfolios, technology roadmaps, budgets, vendors, and service delivery to achieve business outcomes
  • Strong understanding of technology governance, risk management, cybersecurity, compliance, and enterprise service management practices
  • Proven ability to influence senior leaders, build alignment across diverse stakeholder groups, manage multiple priorities, and adapt effectively to changing business needs
Your Experience
  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Business, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of 15 years of progressive technology experience, including at least five years leading technology teams and services.
  • Proven experience managing business applications, technology portfolios, and strategic stakeholder relationships.
