About The Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant, Financial Reporting. Reporting directly to the CFO/Head of Accounting. This is an ideal opportunity for a CPA with 8+ years of experience, ideally in banking or financial services, who brings strong IFRS/GAAP knowledge, expert Excel skills, and a passion for operational improvement. The role blends hands-on financial reporting responsibilities with high-level analysis, regulatory compliance, and the opportunity to lead and mentor a small team.

What You Will Achieve In This Role:

• Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with IFRS and GAAP.
• Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial close processes.
• Lead and review financial reporting packages, consolidations, and disclosures.
• Ensure regulatory compliance, including filings with OSFI and other external bodies.
• Collaborate with the CFO and stakeholders to support profit planning, bonus structure alignment, and financial strategy.
• Deliver KPI and ANL reports to leadership and assist in strategic financial modeling.
• Guide budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis across departments and projects.
• Utilize Excel and Oracle (or similar systems) to drive automation and reporting efficiency.
• Mentor two accounting professionals and foster a culture of learning.
• Lead continuous improvements to financial systems, controls, and processes.
• Engage in process reengineering, operational reviews, and cross-border reporting (CAD, USD, other currencies).
• Support external audit preparation and provide required documentation.

What You Must Bring To This Role:

• Must bring a minimum 8 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within a financial institution, banking or public accounting firm with financial services clients.
• Proven experience with IFRS/GAAP compliance, financial reporting, and regulatory requirements.
• Leadership experience or a strong desire to move into leadership (will have 2 direct reports).
• Expert-level Excel proficiency, including pivot tables, data modeling, and ability to pass an Excel assessment.
• Proficiency in Oracle or comparable ERP software.
• Strong communication skills and ability to translate complex data into actionable insight for stakeholders.
• A growth mindset and a proactive approach to solving problems and improving systems.
• Demonstrated ability to see the “big picture” while also executing detailed tasks accurately.
