We are seeking a dynamic, organized self-starter for the role of Sr. Maintenance Manager (Sr. MM) to lead our site-based maintenance team, which includes a Maintenance Manager, Area Maintenance Managers, and technicians reporting to the Regional Maintenance Manager. The primary responsibility is to lead a large maintenance team to maximize equipment uptime and execute maintenance and projects in a fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate will be a highly experienced subject matter expert in maintenance, workplace safety, and data-driven management. Experience with material handling equipment systems, packaging automation, distribution, and storage systems is a plus. The candidate must be a self-starter capable of managing multiple projects, influencing others, developing relationships across all levels, and overseeing maintenance during commissioning of large projects. Additionally, the candidate should provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of at least 80 people.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide leadership, mentorship, and management to Maintenance Managers and Area Maintenance Managers in Amazon’s North American Fulfillment Network.
  2. Develop and guide Maintenance Department business plans.
  3. Implement reliability plans to increase facility uptime.
  4. Drive maintenance best practices: innovate, standardize, improve work methods, ensure safety, train staff, and analyze KPIs to enhance processes and customer experience.
  5. Advise senior leadership on maintenance and equipment end-of-life issues using ROI and analytical techniques.
  6. Oversee budget development, execution, and capital planning.
  7. Manage vendor support and equipment relationships leveraging Amazon’s scale.
  8. Monitor and audit maintenance execution, safety practices, and training drills.
  9. Leverage the maintenance team for the benefit of the entire network.
  10. Manage budgets, contracts, RFPs, change controls, and invoicing.
  11. Provide visibility to Fulfillment Center GMs on maintenance activities.
  12. Recruit, interview, and hire top talent for Maintenance roles.
  13. Contribute to creating a world-class Maintenance organization.
Basic Qualifications
  • 10+ years managing large, complex facilities organizations.
  • Bachelor’s in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience leading 80+ employees, including salaried staff.
  • Experience managing change and teams across multiple sites.
  • 7+ years managing employee performance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong communication, team-building, and influencing skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-expectation environment.
  • Proficient in data analysis and process development.
  • Self-motivated with a track record of achieving goals independently.
  • Experience with material handling equipment and complex systems maintenance.
  • Knowledge of major MHE integrators, Lean, TOC, layout design, and safety considerations.
  • Proficiency with MS Excel, AutoCAD, MS Project, and SQL.
  • Advanced degrees or certifications like Six Sigma Black Belt or Professional Engineering registration are a plus.
