About the opportunity | Te whiwhinga mahi

We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager at our Waitoa site where you will have the opportunity to take the department to the next level and continue the journey of maintenance improvements. As a key member of the leadership team, you’ll provide hands on leadership, mentoring and coaching to our highly skilled Maintenance Team to enable the achievement of our engineering strategy and world class standards in health and safety, food safety and quality, asset management and continuous improvement.

You’ll lead the Maintenance team’s strategic direction and delivery while having accountability for world class standards in our Fonterra strategy.

Core responsibilities include:

  • Building a high performing team environment and fostering a culture of high engagement and collaboration with a continuous improvement mindset and focus.
  • Building succession strategies throughout the maintenance team, through regular 1 on 1 meetings and personal development plans.
  • Work along union delegates to support the team with union matters.
  • Optimising site R&M strategy, and Integrated Work System (IWS) PM pillar leadership.
  • Analysing and optimising maintenance budget and major service contracts.
  • Developing site capital management performance driven by long term strategic business and capital plans based on asset condition and risk.
  • Building long term partnerships that create value with our customers, suppliers and contractors.

You will be a natural people leader with strong coaching abilities.

We want to hear from you if you have:

  • A trade certificate or tertiary degree in Engineering - Mechanical, Electrical or other relevant field.
  • People leadership experience of large teams with the ability to engage and motivate others.
  • Proven understanding of maintenance management processes and an engineering project management background.
  • A strategic mindset with effective communication and relationship management skills.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to implement and drive continuous improvement.
