Job summary

LN Land Development Technologies Inc. in Calgary is seeking a Senior Oilfield Locator to identify and mark underground utilities across oilfield, industrial, and complex facilities.

You will work independently, lead field teams when needed, and apply advanced locating methods with direct connection, induction, and four-way sweeps to ensure safe project delivery.

THE OPPORTUNITY

As a Senior Oilfield Locator, you'll play an important role in safely identifying and marking underground utilities and infrastructure across oilfield, industrial, and complex facility environments.

This is a senior-level field position suited to someone with strong technical locating skills, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently in challenging conditions.

You'll primarily support projects throughout Calgary and the surrounding areas, with opportunities for out-of-town project work as required.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Identify and accurately mark underground pipelines and utilities, including gas, power, telecommunications, fibre, water, and other infrastructure.
• Perform oilfield and utility locating within plant sites, stations, terminals, and other complex or congested facilities.
• Apply advanced locating techniques, including direct connection, induction, and four-way blind sweeps.
• Operate electromagnetic locating equipment and other specialized technologies to identify underground infrastructure.
• Interpret station drawings, survey plans, gas records, utility drawings, maps, and client documentation.
• Identify potential underground conflicts and determine when additional investigation or escalation is required.
• Complete accurate field documentation, locate reports, sketches, and related records.
• Work closely with project teams, clients, and field personnel to support safe and efficient project delivery.
• Follow company and client safety procedures while maintaining a high standard of accuracy and quality.
• Provide technical guidance and support to junior team members when required.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

We're looking for an experienced locator who is comfortable taking ownership of their work and making informed decisions in the field.

To be successful in this role, you'll bring:

• Minimum 5 years of oilfield locating experience.
• Proven ability to work independently as a senior oilfield or utility locator.
• Experience working within plant sites, congested stations, terminals, and complex underground utility environments.
• Strong knowledge of oilfield and underground utility locating procedures, equipment, and safety requirements.
• Demonstrated experience with direct connection, induction, four-way blind sweeps, and other advanced locating methods.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, utility records, maps, and client procedures.
• Previous One Call locating experience.
• Strong communication, documentation, troubleshooting, and field decision-making skills.
• Ability to recognize potential conflicts and determine when further investigation is necessary.
• Previous crew lead or senior field leadership experience is strongly preferred.
