Edmonton, AB | Full-Time | Permanent | $38.00-$43.00/hour

LN Land Development Technologies Inc. is looking for a highly experienced Senior Pipeline Locator to join our Edmonton team.

This is a senior-level field position intended for an experienced locator with a strong background in pipeline locating, plant sites, stations, terminals, and complex underground utility environments. The successful candidate will be confident working independently in the field, interpreting detailed client and facility information, and applying advanced locating methods in congested and high-risk environments.

The role will primarily support projects based out of Edmonton area, with the potential for out-of-town project work as required.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

As a Senior Pipeline Locator, you will:

Identify and accurately mark pipelines and underground utilities, including gas, power, telecommunications, fibre, water, and other infrastructure.

Perform pipeline and utility locating within plant sites, stations, terminals, and other complex or congested facilities.

Confidently perform advanced locating methods, including direct connection, induction, and four-way blind sweeps, selecting the appropriate locating method based on field conditions.

Use electromagnetic locating equipment and other utility locating technologies to accurately identify underground infrastructure.

Interpret client-specific agreements and procedures, station drawings, survey drawings, gas records, utility maps, records, and project information.

Conduct field assessments to identify potential utility conflicts, hazards, and discrepancies before work proceeds.

Complete locates in accordance with client requirements, ground disturbance procedures, and applicable safety standards.

Support One Call locate requests and related documentation.

Maintain clear and accurate field records and communicate findings, conflicts, or concerns to the appropriate project personnel.

Provide crew lead support, field guidance, and mentorship to less-experienced locators when required.

Work collaboratively with project teams while remaining confident and self-sufficient in the field.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

This position is specifically targeted toward an experienced pipeline locator. The successful candidate will have:

Minimum 5 years of pipeline locating experience.

Senior-level experience working independently as a pipeline/utility locator.

Previous experience working within plant sites, congested stations, terminals, and complex utility environments.

Strong knowledge of underground pipeline and utility locating practices, procedures, and safety requirements.

Demonstrated experience using direct connection, induction, four-way blind sweeps, and other locating methods.

Strong ability to interpret station drawings, survey drawings, gas records, utility drawings, maps, client procedures, and other technical information.

Previous One Call locating experience.

Previous crew lead or senior field leadership experience is strongly preferred.

Strong communication, documentation, troubleshooting, and field decision-making skills.

Ability to recognize potential conflicts and know when additional investigation or escalation is required.

ASSETS

Experience with GPS/GNSS and Trimble equipment is considered an asset.

Candidates with extensive pipeline locating experience who do not yet have significant GPS experience are still encouraged to apply. You must be open to learning Trimble GPS/GNSS equipment, GPS data collection, field mapping, and related survey workflows as part of the position.

REQUIREMENTS

Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence with an acceptable driver’s abstract.

Valid Ground Disturbance certification.

Valid H2S Alive certification.

Valid Confined Space certification.

Ability to successfully complete required drug and alcohol testing.

Ability to work outdoors and in active industrial environments.

Ability and willingness to travel for out-of-town project work when required.

Must be legally eligible to work in Canada on a permanent basis.
