Job summary

Optima Living is seeking a Dietary Aide to support meal service, food prep, and dining area cleanliness across our Edmonton operations. Reporting to Food Services or Hospitality Manager, you’ll help ensure safe, appetizing meals that respect resident dietary needs and promote comfort and independence.

You will set up dining spaces, assist with serving, sanitize areas, follow health regulations, and participate in ongoing safety and quality initiatives while supporting a resident-centered care

Qualifications

• Experience in a food services role is an asset.
• Knowledge of safe food handling and sanitation practices is required.
• Strong personal hygiene practices are required.
• Ability to communicate professionally and maintain respectful relationships with residents, team members, volunteers and visitors.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
• Demonstrates the ability to effectively organize, prioritize and problem solve.
• Ability to work independently and in cooperation with others.
• Computer literacy skills required.
• Flexibility to work a variety of shifts.

Responsibilities

• Ensures proper food presentation, portion control and maintenance of appropriate serving temperatures.
• Assists with basic food preparation tasks.
• Serves meals and beverages to residents according to their dietary restrictions and individual preferences while encouraging independent feeding.
• Assists in setting up, cleaning and sanitizing the dining room and server prior to and after meal service.
• Assists in setting up, serving and cleaning in dining areas during special events, large orders and catered functions as needed.
• Interacts with residents to take meal orders and answer menu questions.
• Provides tray services according to the care or service plan.
• Prepares a variety of beverages, including freshly brewed coffee and tea.
