Job summary

Cogir Senior Living seeks an Active Living Aide to assist in planning and delivering meaningful programs for residents across our retirement residences. You will help with assessments, daily activities, and outings while supporting the care team and families in a respectful, person-centered environment.

The role emphasizes collaboration with the Active Living Manager and Executive Director, promoting engagement, safety, and quality of life for seniors in our care.

Qualifications

• College diploma in Recreation, Leisure Studies, Gerontology or equivalent is required.
• Experience working with seniors is required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) is required.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
• Energetic and compassionate person who enjoys working with the elderly.
• Valid provincial driver's license to transport residents by van.
• Must provide a Vulnerable Sector Check or be willing to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, organization and implementation of meaningful programs for residents.
• Maintain department records including assessments and evaluations of activities.
• Communicate effectively with residents, families, volunteers and staff.
• Attend in-service education to stay informed on elderly care trends.
• Participate in team meetings to plan activities.
• Assist with outings and resident activity assessments.
• Prepare, carry out and evaluate daily activities; assist with meals as required.
