Job summary

Canada Post in Ottawa is seeking an Assistant General Counsel (AGC), a senior practitioner and team leader responsible for strategic, risk-aware legal advice aligned to enterprise priorities and cost-effective outcomes.

The AGC balances internal and external resources, coaches Legal Affairs professionals, and oversees complex labour, contracts, IP and other matters to enable informed business decisions.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor or LL.B. from an accredited institution.
• Bar admission in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
• Senior leadership experience in legal affairs or advisory roles.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic, risk-aware legal advice to senior management.
• Lead and manage the Legal Affairs team to support business priorities.
• Oversee external counsel to ensure cost-effective services.
• Guide complex matters across labour, contracts, IP and more.
• Foster trusted partnerships and measurable business outcomes.
