Job summary

Gateway Services is seeking an In-House Legal Counsel to join our North American team in Guelph, Ontario. This full-time, salaried role places you inside the business, partnering with leaders to handle commercial agreements, employment matters, IP, governance, and regulatory issues.

You should have roughly 3–5 years post-call experience, a JD or equivalent, and be in good standing with a Canadian law society.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years post-call experience.
• Strong foundation in corporate and commercial law.
• Ability to draft, review and negotiate contracts.
• Comfortable interfacing with senior business leaders.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements.
• Advise business leaders on day-to-day legal questions.
• Help identify and manage legal and commercial risk.
• Partner with HR on employment-related matters.
• Support litigation, claims and commercial disputes.
• Coordinate matters with external counsel across Canada and the U.S.
• Support corporate governance and entity-management activities.
• Participate in due diligence and M&A-related work.
• Assist with privacy, regulatory and compliance matters.
• Protect Gateway's trademarks, patents and other IP.

Education

J.D., LL.B. or equivalent law degree
