Job Description
Sedgman is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to join its growing Mining & Minerals business and support our North American offices. This role will be based in Vancouver, BC or Montreal, Quebec, reporting to the General Counsel in Brisbane, Australia.

The ideal candidate will have experience in engineering and the construction industry, preferably in mining, with a strong understanding of risks related to feasibility studies, detailed design, and project delivery. Demonstrated ability to provide accurate, commercial, and timely legal advice to manage legal and contractual risks effectively is essential.

Responsibilities include managing legal functions daily, ensuring compliance with reporting and governance policies, reviewing contracts, negotiating amendments, and supporting dispute resolution during project phases.

Qualifications include a Law degree, membership in a Bar for at least 8 years, and a minimum of 3 years’ experience in engineering and construction law. Excellent communication skills, knowledge of the mining industry, negotiation skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 are required. Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada without sponsorship.
