Senior/Lead Estimator - ICI - Ottawa
Our client is a well known and well established ICI focused General Contractor focusing mainly on Corporate and Institutional new builds.
Job Description
Reporting to the VP of Estimation, the successful candidate will be involved in the overall leadership of the estimating department. You will successfully track down project leads turning them into bidding opportunities, solicit pricing from trade partners and develop detailed budgets and competitive bids and proposals in order to meet the objective of continued and sustainable growth of the Company.
Responsibilities
- Recommending and implementing winning tendering strategies
- Developing mutually profitable, long term business relationships with project partners
- Qualifying bidding and prequalification opportunities
- Analyzing project risk and implementing risk mitigation strategies
- Manage the estimating and tender closings
- Foster and maintain positive relations and communication with clients, consultants, architects, and subcontractors.

Successful Applicant
Skills & Experience
- Have at least eight (8) years experience as an estimator or senior estimator
- at least 8 years construction experience in ICI construction estimating.
- Hold a professional engineering degree (P.Eng), or a Gold Seal Certificate (GSC) in Estimating, or a Quantity Surveyor designation.
- Have experience in estimating LEED projects
- Have knowledge of local market conditions
- Direct estimating experience in the capacity of Senior Estimator of large Institutional, Commercial, Industrial projects valued between $1million and $100 million
- Demonstrate superior leadership, motivational and mentoring skills
- Strong management, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
- Be eligible for security clearances and possess a valid driver's license
- Working knowledge of MS Office suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook), MS Project or Primavera scheduling software and industry leading estimating/quantity take off software
