Job summary

Michael Page International (Canada) is seeking an experienced Chief Estimator to lead and grow the estimating function for large-scale ICI projects across Canada. The role requires proven leadership in construction estimating, strong knowledge of industry tools and a track record of delivering complex, negotiated work and multi-project oversight.

The successful candidate will mentor a team of estimators, manage relationships with clients and subcontractors, and drive cost-effective solutions

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in construction estimation operating in executive level capacity.
  • Experience leading and building estimating teams.
  • Strong knowledge of cost estimation tools, software and methodologies.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Completed multiple full cycle large ground-up projects in ICI.
  • Strong experience with negotiated work, not solely hard-bid/tender work.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective stakeholder collaboration.
  • Strong client-facing and relationship management skills
  • Leadership experience to mentor and guide a team of estimators.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates and budgets for construction projects.
  • Lead the bidding process, including reviewing tender documents and ensuring compliance with requirements.
  • Collaborate with project managers and engineers to assess project needs and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Analyze subcontractor and supplier proposals to ensure alignment with project specifications.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market pricing and construction trends.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Ensure all estimates are prepared accurately and submitted within deadlines.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior estimators on the team.

The company has completed over 12,000 residential units, along with schools, office buildings, retail centres, and mixed-use developments. Known for its collaborative approach, they provided expertise in value engineering, cost-efficient design, and quality construction, working closely with clients and project stakeholders from concept through completion.

Job Description

The Successful Applicant

A successful Chief Estimator should have:

  • Proven experience in construction estimation operating in this executive level capacity.
