Job summary

Binnie is hiring a full-time Senior Land Surveyor for our Calgary office. You will lead varied geomatics projects, define scope and schedules, coordinate with resources, and prepare proposals tailored to client needs and site inspections.

The role emphasizes client relationship building, business development, and mentorship of staff. The position offers opportunities for career advancement within an employee-owned firm, with a focus on office-based work and occasional field visits.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of survey experience with 5–8 years managing mid-to-complex legal survey projects
• Alberta Land Surveyor license in good standing (ALSA)
• Degree or Diploma in Geomatics Engineering Technology
• Strong knowledge of surveying techniques, practices, equipment, software and safety requirements
• Strong understanding of project management resource planning and budgeting practices
• Demonstrated leadership, excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to write strong proposals for medium-sized projects
• Proven business development skills to grow client relationships and revenue
• Valid driver's license for site visits

Responsibilities

• Independently manage varied geomatics projects
• Define scope, schedules and deliverables and plan project execution
• Coordinate with Division Manager and other Project Managers to secure resources
• Plan and coordinate activities and documentation for project resources
• Prepare well planned project proposals based on client needs and site inspection
• Monitor survey performance on projects
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships
• Support or lead business development activities, including proposals and client discussions
• Communicate professionally with internal and external clients
• Mentor technical staff and support professional development
